Applebee's

From: Beth

Yeah, he owes us reviews of applebee's and capital grille.

From: Colleen

Applebee's - we went to applebees??

From: Beth

No, he went to applebee's last week with not us.

From: Colleen

Ahhh... Not too sorry about that.

From: Beth

Me neither. Which is why I encourage a scathing review from mark!

From: Mark

AppleBees was not that bad, I know we're anti-chain but it was pretty good, better than some of the hole in the walls places some people have taken me:)

From: Beth

What did you get at applebee's? I can't find anything on the menu

that I like.

A sampler what at applebee's?

And you need to give bob evans another chance. I was just there last night. I love their bean soup.

From: Mark

I ordered a sampler at Applebees...again, it's not Capital Grill but

it's fine...just ok...

From: Colleen

Ok - I have just lost huge amounts of respect for your culinary opinion

with the statement that Applebee's was not that bad - Applebee's is the place you go to when there is no where else to go! Seriously, you put down morning glory but Applebee is good - you lost so many points I

can't even tell you!

From: Colleen

What's his names meals that they added are pretty good but really not

good for you.

From: Beth

Tyler florence? Mom says one of them is just an upside down

salad- it's a salad on top of chicken. And its good, but not as

exciting as they make it sound.

From: Colleen

Yup - his dishes really the worthwhile ones on the menu. They do

make it sound more interesting than it was.

From: Mark

You guys really sounded busy today....man that's some good (company)

money to good use of paying the both of you to be at work to bash Tyler

Florence!!

From: Colleen

Lets get this straight, I was not bashing Tyler Florence, I believe I

said that his dishes were the only worthwhile ones on the menu.

Continential, Olde City

Ok, I've decided I am going to start writing restaurant reviews for everyone of our lunches, at the end, we can put a book together and call it something like, "Philly Restaurants for the Common Man"......
Let's start with Continental:
Ambience: The feel of the place was very nice, as you went towards the bathroom areas of the restaurant looked like something out the Frank Sinatra Era. The lighting and paint was soothing and comfortable
Service: The service was good, my only complaint was that there appeared to be too many wait staff. It actually was somewhat distracting. The place is not that large where you need that many staff members. Everytime I looked up there was somewhat running by serving people. It was very distracting.
Ice Tea: I could have gone for some "raw sugar"
Food: We orded the cheesteak egg rolls, the lobster mashed potatoes, the shoestring fries, and the shrimp and calamari. The food would be graded at about a C+. Nothing terribly special.
Cheesecake Egg rolls: Very tasty, similar to a steakup, the peppers and onions were good but the overall piece of egg roll was extremely greasy.
Lobster Mashed Potatoes: My lunch mates raved about it.....I say, "BLAH"...very salty and I was not fond of what appeared to be red wine on the bottom of the mashed potatoes.
Shoestring Fries: Good but reminded me of Potatoes sticks that I would eat out of a bag.
Calamari and Shrimp: I did not like the taste of the shrimp, very fishy tasty, almost day old tasting. The calamari was good but could have used some more seasoning on breading.
Overall, I gave Continental a C. I am sure that this place is fun to go at night and drink some martinis.......
